Hello everyone!
With the continuation of the blue winged olive hatch, I thought I would post and tell everyone how exciting the fishing has been on Spring Creek the last few weeks!
On Sunday, I had an always entertaining and exciting opportunity to fish with my father. We started around 1:00PM and didn't end until around 5:30PM. The first step I took into the water I saw fish rising to take blue winged olives and it remained constant for the next several hours. After that the fish holding along the seems in the heart of the stream fed more irregularly while their counterparts were still taking insects in eddies and slower moving pools along the side channels with ferocity. This would eventually diminish as well and I packed it in and met dad at the car to debrief our day on the stream.
Flies that worked: sucker spawn, blue winged olive nymphs, emergers, klinkhammers and duns.
Below are a selection of photos of a few fish that I caught, enjoy!
We decided to write this blog as a way of sharing some of our stories from past experiences fishing, tying flies, guiding, and traveling. Most of which are completely 100% true except for the names of people, some stories are slightly embellished and some are mostly made up. It's really for you to figure it out and for us to have some fun writing down some of the truly good memories we have had while immersed in fly fishing.

2013 Fly Fishing Film Tour
Greetings Everyone!
Tonight in Missoula, Montana the Fly Fishing Film Tour kicks off its annual tour across the US, Canada and one show in Belize. On February 21, 2013 the film tour will be visiting Central Pennsylvania! The show is at the State Theatre from 7:00PM - 9:00PM in downtown State College. The tickets are $17 dollars a piece and it should be an incredible night of, as some people call it, fish porn.
Below is a link to view trailers of the 2013 films that will be highlighted during the film tour. The titles include Magnetic North, BrownBro, Reel: A Day On The River, Thai One On, Enough is Enough, Urban Lines, Turning Tail, Best Guide Never, Hit em' Again Doc, The Calico Syndicate, Blackwater Devil's Gold, The Brothers Brown and Fall Run.
Hopefully the tour makes a stop near your local fishing grounds so you are able to check out some of the new fly fishing media of 2013!
Enjoy!

Salmon Flies
Recently, my father tied incredible salmon flies for my brother, sister and I as a Christmas gift. I thought it was more than worthy of a post to let everyone see the unique arrangement and beautiful craftsmanship that my father has behind the vice.
Enjoy!

Hit the streams this weekend!
It should be a good weekend on the streams...Here are a few pictures that we recently captured on Spruce Creek when we went for a short afternoon. As a rule, hit the stream when the water temperatures are at their peaks throughout the middle of the afternoon.
Take advantage of the warmer weather whenever it presents itself!
Enjoy!

GEOFISH: Volume 1
HELLO AGAIN EVERYONE....
Now that PA will take a brief hiatus from deer hunting, I will turn in my bow/rifle for the fly rod to do some serious fishing around Central PA. While surfing the web I came across an new DVD "GEOFISH." Costa Sunglasses present their first installment, documenting a journey to fly fish in Mexico. To say they faced a few obstacles would be an understatement but they find a way put together an amazing fly fishing journey.
Check out the link to the trailer and hopefully you got half as excited as I did for some of the saltwater fly-fishing that the anglers of Motive Fishing have captured!
Enjoy!

Brief Hiatus
Folks,
I want to apologize for the brief hiatus from the blog....
It's hunting season in PA and I've just been working too much and fly fishing too little. We apologize, however we have still been getting emails with questions which is great, because we are always more than happy to help! I shared the first one yesterday from Pat Williams and there will be a couple more to follow. It's been too long! Hopefully we will get some new picture submissions and maybe Kirk and I will get to fish!
Remember it's streamer season, but it's also hunting season in PA. Wear a blaze orange hat so some jagaloon doesn't shoot at you thinking you are a deer trying to cross Spring Creek on your hind legs.... I'm serious.
