We decided to write this blog as a way of sharing some of our stories from past experiences fishing, tying flies, guiding, and traveling. Most of which are completely 100% true except for the names of people, some stories are slightly embellished and some are mostly made up. It's really for you to figure it out and for us to have some fun writing down some of the truly good memories we have had while immersed in fly fishing.

New Gear

I don't really consider myself that much of a gear head, although that's been changing since I started working in a fly shop, but recently I got the new Simms RIVERTEK® BOA® BOOT. Well I should say my girlfriend got them for me (what a woman). Anyways I have gotten some time to break them in and I really like the convenience of the lacing system itself, although I'm not totally sold on the real ability to sink it as tight as you could lace up a pair of boots. That being said, I'm in and out of my boots much quicker and easier, pop a button and they're off. I have great ankle support and no problem slipping with the vibram sole. Really though vibram has never bothered me, whereas with felt it felt like I was always doing headers on grassy banks and going ass over tea kettle on muddy slopes. Not only do the vibram soles "walk" better they're also better for the environment, i.e. don't carry harmful algae and invertebrates as easily from one ecosystem to the next. *** Always remember to clean your boots when traveling from one stream system to the next, you never know what you will bring with you. And honestly how hard is it to drop your boots in a tub of bleach for a couple hours?

Overall I give the boots about an 8.5 basically with no real complaints I just don't know how the lacing system will hold up with time. I recommend these boots to anyone who needs a new pair of really nice, comfortable boots, plus who doesn't want to be on the cutting edge of technology?
