We decided to write this blog as a way of sharing some of our stories from past experiences fishing, tying flies, guiding, and traveling. Most of which are completely 100% true except for the names of people, some stories are slightly embellished and some are mostly made up. It's really for you to figure it out and for us to have some fun writing down some of the truly good memories we have had while immersed in fly fishing.

Weekly fishing report

This has got to be the craziest season in central Pennsylvania I have ever fished through. The weather has had hatches starting early and going longer than I have ever seen. The water is low clear and warming up quickly but the fishing has been awesome! Here's what's happening and where!

Spring Creek:

Hatches -
BWO's size 18-20
Blue Quill size 14-16
Tan Caddis size 16-18
Midges Black and Gray Size 20-24

Just when you thought the BWO's were done today proved me wrong again. The water started boiling with them as the rains came and the fishing was unbelievably productive from 1-4 pm. Also, tan caddis flies have been popping off from lunch through the evening. Little guys so far this year but the fish are definitely eating them. Blue quills were here and there the spinner pattern was the most effective, tune in later for some fly recipes for those guys. And as always the midges were in abundances.

Penns Creek:

Hatches -
Hendrickson's size 14-16
BWO's size 18
Quill Gordon size 14-16
Black Stoneflies size 12-18
Annnddd wait for it.... March Brown's size 12

I know I didn't believe it when I heard March Brown's were coming off but more and more people are saying it everyday and even catching fish with a March Brown imitation. It's almost a month early, which is insane. Honestly, half the major hatches are going to be done before all the water even opens up to the public.

Fishing Creek:

Hatches -
BWO's size 18
Quill Gordon size 14-16
Black stoneflies size 12-18
And a few grannoms

On Fishing Creek there haven't been many fish feeding on the surface the action has been mostly subsurface. But, that is starting to change it's getting better everyday and soon the grannoms will be hatching by the boat load and it will be fishing lights out.

Little Juniata:

HATCH -
Grannoms size 14-16

Honestly I don't need to say anything else. Go to the Little Juniata and FISH the grannoms before it's too late. They are going nuts over there. Honestly, you are going to miss it if you wait too much longer. Get there. Go fishing. Check out this video one of the fly shop regulars put together of the grannoms on the J this year.

Thanks Pat for putting that together! It looks great!
